CORPORATE WINTERFEST GAMES - OLYMPIC ARENA
Program Activities:
Curling Tournament
Hockey Shoot-out
Ice Skating
Human Powered Luge Races
Tug-O-War (A tiebreaker in team events)
Curling tournament: this competition is hosted by the Lake Placid Curling Club, which provides instructors, equipment and scoring. Similar to shuffleboard, curling requires sliding a 42 pound stone across the ice to a Bulls Eye inscribed on the ice. It has proven to be one of the most popular group activities, since it offers the opportunity for everyone to participate on a level playing field.
Hockey shoot-out: this competition offers participants an opportunity to shoot hockey pucks at a goal that is blocked by a silhouette of a hockey goalie. Shooters stand on a rubber mat on the ice and are scored on total goals made in the allotted time.
Human Powered Luge Races: this event requires teammates to propel each other on an actual luge sled around a slalom course set up on the arena ice. This relay race requires teamwork and generates a great degree of enthusiasm and comical incidents. A motivational presentation by Olympic luge athletes can provide an appropriate connection to staff development objectives in conjunction with this event.
